Hampi

Hampi, in Karnataka, India, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. It was once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, which ruled from 1336 to 1565. During this time, many beautiful temples and monuments were built, surrounded by giant boulders that add to its unique charm. In 1565, the empire was destroyed by Sultanate armies, leaving Hampi in ruins.
